Papuk - Cache In Trash Out Event (No.2)

This year, and now traditionally for the second time, we participated on the CITO event in city Velika. Although this year the weather was a bit cloudier and colder, it didn't disrupt us to go on road-trip to Velika. Driving there wasn't boring at all because road curves over Krndija are simply challenging. And purple flowers that were growing on slopes of the hill decorated our way. Even two remaining, but still not found geocaches, which we helped hide with Zagy, are now logged as found into our geocaching statistic.

When we arrived in Velika already the big part of geocaching crew from Zagreb was there so we joined with listening and sharing stories and what is new. It has been a long time that we have seen each other, and there were some new geocachers that we met and finally connected geocaching name with face of the person.
And for the CITO event this time Goran also has prepared updated presentation about geocaching with purpose to introduce it to young population as an interesting hobby. This time it was even practical part how to make a free registration on geocaching.com web page. So, Filip1221 we are hopping that you won't quit geocaching and that we will have a chance to find some of your hidden geocaches. At the end of presentation we all signed the logsheet to leave permanent mark that we have attended this event.

But before we leave, everyone that didn't find geocache at the geopark square have done it this year. Already mentioned geocacher Filip1221 has found a geocache and we "experienced" geocachers have just seized the opportunity to log into logbook. But, now we are going at the beginning of the track where we will start with the cleaning when we saw graphite on the bridge. That is, we think, very creative installation. And off-course, while I was talking to Maja how could be here a hidden geocache when trio is already standing behind us and plots a clever hide, and they are doing everything to cover their idea.
And what happened the next day? Well off-course there is a newly hidden geocache.

Ok, now we are getting on the thing that brought us here all together. CITO event was registered for a reason, and that was to clean the path by the creek, from it's beginning right to the meadow that ends with marquee where you can barbecue on warm days. This years cleaning action was somewhat shorter and rangers from Geopark Papuk cleaned larger trash before we came, but we still gathered few bags of various trash. Alltogether the place is cleaner than before, so we can conclude that we managed to spend some time this year too to make the Earth in global the cleaner planet for all of us. When returning to the starting point, the clouds broke and even the sun shone on us, and that improved the whole experience. Zagy stopped for the moment to ring a bell, that we rang last year too, for the souls of the dead.

When we came to the starting point we took some time to rest and got prepared for the rest of the event. That was the perfect opportunity to exchange and discover new travel bugs and geocoins. For the first time we shared our two trackables: TB Wacky deer and German Flag Micro Geocoin. Geocacher bgnjip already surprised us before with his own category of traveling geocache, so we wasn't so surprised this time when he introduced us with his drivable travel bug, his own car.
After that, Goran decided to take us to Požega. Project named Geocaching is in progress there, in which are included young high school students and their professor from technical school mr. Hrvoje Mikolčević. That is really praiseworthy project and of course we support that kind of activities because that means there will be more hidden geocaches for all of us to find. Professor Hrvoje led us through town and we together found 5 newly hidden geocaches.

When you are searching geocaches in group, we learned that it is not important for you to find a cache because there is always someone who wants to find it first, others just sign the logbook. On such occasions it is more important for us just to socialize with others, tell each other funny stories, exchange helpful experiences, and off-course have a good time.
While we were driving from one geocache to another, we couldn't escape the impression that our line of cars looked like some kind of wedding And the city Požega itself has so much to offer. We walked through the park where probably everyone can find a swing for themselves. Only 5 minutes from the park we found ourselves on the top of the hill where we could see the remains of the old city. Everyone wanted to take a picture of it, and we wanted to take a picture of them.
Returning from the hill, we have witnessed that our car, all covered by mosquitoes, wasn't really that dirty.

Coming to the end of our event, professor Hrvoje took us to the restaurant where we had abundance of excellent food and concluded that next time we will order just three soups and it will be enough for everyone.
At the very end when we were saying goodbye to our geocaching friends from Zagreb, Arizona told us that it was his birthday and he shared with us some cakes that he brought and held in secret until then. Arizona, happy birthday, the cakes were really tasty, and to the rest of the group we say that we will see you next year in even greater number.
